jake's first halloween!

Can I just say that Halloween is so much more fun with kids?!

Last night we took Jake to his very first Trunk or Treat at our church. It was a little chilly, but we had fun walking from trunk to trunk with about a million other people/kids.

And our Dr. Seuss costumes were a huge hit!

They weren't too tough to make either.

Jake wore black pants and shoes and I made his top out of a black hoodie...

I sewed white jersey knit fabric to either side of the zipper for the cat belly. Then I hot glued a red ribbon to the top.

His hat was made out of simple felt.

I sewed several pieces together for the stripes. Then attached the red circular top and white brim with hot glue around the inside fold.

I also added a piece of elastic {with hot glue} to help keep it on his head. He didn't mind it one bit!

I put some light poster board in the flue of the hat to help it keep it's tip-top shape!

For mine and J.B.'s costumes, I grabbed red shirts and used Heat Bond to attach a white jersey knit circle. Then I used the ever-famous freezer paper stencil trick for the Thing 1 & 2 graphics.

Black pants and a couple of blue wigs from the Halloween shop and we were good to go!

We had so much fun this Halloween!!
Little kids kept coming up to us to say hi and parents stopped us to ask for pictures. Success!!
I'm already looking forward to next year!
