Easy Black Forest Pie - recipe

It's been nutty around here the last couple of days.
One of my very best friends got married today {yay!}. And well, you guys know how crazy that is...
At the same time, my father in law came in town.
And I gave myself a black eye.
 Super eventful!

More on a lot of this later, but lets start with dessert!

Last night, my father in law came into town to stay with us. Typically when he's here, he likes to take us out to eat {which is always wonderful}. But I usually try to flex just a tiny domestic muscle too during his visits too {just so he knows that I really do use our kitchen on occasion!}.

And he's a "sweets" man.

So ... pie, duh! This Black Forest pie is one of our favorites. It's also super quick to make, which is great because of the wedding this weekend.

 - Oreo pie crust
 - 2 cups of cold milk
 - 2 pkg (or 8oz)  Jello Chocolate Instant Pudding
 - 1 tub of Cool Whip
 - 1 cup of cherry pie filling
 - 1 square of Baker's Semi-Sweet Chocolate

In a large bowl, pour your milk and dry pudding mixes. Stir until well blended. {this will be super thick}. Spoon 1 1/2 cups into the crust.

Gently stir in 1 1/2 cups of Cool Whip into the remaining pudding bowl. Spoon a layer of this onto the pie.
Refrigerate for 3-4 hours.

Before you serve the pie, cover with a layer of Cool Whip. Top with cherry pie filling.

I also like to melt the Baker's chocolate and drizzle some on top.

I doubt that this is going to last long in the fridge!

Some wedding crafts and more details from the weekend coming up tomorrow. But for now I've got to kick off these heels and relax!
