book page canvas {tutorial}

Materials:
 - a canvas {grab one from any craft store}
 - a book
 - mod podge
 - paint brush

Tear out plenty of pages. I took them from all over the book so the page numbers and content varies.

Arrange the pages on the canvas. Make sure to leave enough overlap to cover the canvas edges as well.

 Make sure the entire canvas is covered. Then start gluing the pages down to the canvas with the Mod Podge. Gently lift the pages to get the glue under, then press down. Don't worry about making it perfect, you can't mess this up.

After you've glued everything down, go over the top of everything with a coat of glue

Mod Podge looks like white glue at first, but it dries with a  clear shiny coat, so don't worry if it looks paste-ish. Just make sure to go over the entire top canvas to seal the pages.

Make sure to wrap the edges are the canvas and glue those as well.

Glue all the edges down on the back and trim any excess.

From here you can leave it as it or continue on with some sort of embellishment. This is another great project that you can make completely you're own. I'm completely obsessed with monograms, so I put a big "W" in the corner of mine.

If you're still stumped, here are a few examples:

Use different colored pages for extra texture:

Use sheet music for a more artistic flair:

Mount something to the canvas:

How cute would it be to do it with pages of a vintage magazine?  Or sewing patterns with a big silhouette of scissors? How about an assortment of maps? ... Wow. My head is about to spin off!

I hope you're inspired!!
